  I. Introduction The National Film Awards is one of the most prestigious film awards in India. It was established in 1954 and is presented annually by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organization set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The awards are given to honor the best films and filmmakers in India.
